
Dr. Claire Gillvray
Claire moved to London where she worked as a salaried GP in East London, GP Partner in West London and Private GP in Fleet Street. She worked as a Clinical Specialist at the Maudsley in Addiction Psychiatry and completed training in leadership in mental health. She was the CCG lead for mental health and worked on improving the links between primary and secondary care within mental health services.
Claire’s personal interest in racing for Team GB as an age group triathlete over Ironman and long course distances led her to completing a MSc in Sports Medicine at Bath University and she completed her dissertation and research on exercise addiction.
Family life took her to a partnership in Bristol and then to Cambridge in 2018. She has worked as a GP trainer and educator and appraiser.
Claire has developed her interest in the link between physical activity and mental health by training as a personal trainer and sports nutritionist.
Claire is the current Lifestyle Medicine lead for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Foundation Trust.

Claire has worked with Cambridge Private Doctors since 2018 and is proud to now be one of the Directors. She also co manages the weight management service and runs the lifestyle medicine programme available through that service under her company Gillvray Health. She is proud to be the Cambridge University Boat Club doctor with the rest of the team.
Claire enjoys competing in triathlons although prefers shorter distances these days! She loves the mental and physical health benefits of being active and has completed a number of ultra marathons and marathons with the support of her young family. She has been exploring the development of a lifestyle medicine digital application as an entrepreneur at the Judge Business school in Cambridge. Fun fact – Yvonne and Claire went to the same school in Northern Ireland but didn’t meet until Claire’s interview to join CPD!
Claire works a Monday afternoon and Friday in the Nuffield Hospital, Monday mornings and Thursdays at Gillvray Health and offers remote consultations on a Wednesday or on demand. If you don’t see an appointment please just ask. She values getting to know her patients and promotes continuation of care.
