
Dr. Rob Howlett
Rob qualified at Cambridge University school of clinical medicine and has been a GP for over 30 years, with particular focus on cardiology.
Rob had further postgraduate training at Papworth and Addenbrookes Hospital followed by a 6-month cardiology sabbatical in Canada.
Rob has worked in secondary care cardiology at Papworth, Chelmsford and Harlow.
Rob ran community-based cardiology clinics in Saffron Walden for over ten years and has performed at least 6,000 echocardiograms (scans of the heart)
Rob has special interests in men’s health, including prostate and testosterone. He was a founding director of the primary care cardiovascular society – promoting the management of cardiovascular disease in primary care, and lectures nationally on cardiovascular disease.

Rob was a senior partner NHS General Practice in Rural Essex for 30 years
Rob is a senior GP appraiser – all NHS GPs must be appraised annually – Rob currently appraises 20 local GPs per year
Rob is experienced in all aspects of general practice, including diabetes, respiratory disorders, gastrointestinal complaints and bone and joint disorders, managing childhood illness and mental health problems.
Rob is the doctor to Cambridge University Boat club.
In 1991 he was a contestant on Masterchef!
Rob is usually in the clinic on Friday afternoons; he tends to book up; if you cannot see an appointment – please email us. Rob will usually try to fit patients in. Remote appointments can be arranged as required.
